Invisalign in Korea is priced by how many aligners your case needs

Anyone asking how much does Invisalign cost in South Korea gets three different answers from three clinics, and none of them explain why. The reason is simple once someone says it out loud: you are not buying a product, you are buying a number of aligners, and that number comes out of your scan.
A crowded lower arch that needs eight months of movement is a different purchase from a case that needs two years and mid-course refinements. Same brand, same clinic, different plan.
This is also the treatment where the trip matters most, because aligners are handed over in batches and the plan is checked in person. Here is how Korean clinics usually structure it for someone who does not live here.
What the price is actually made of
The scan comes first. A 3D intraoral scan and X-rays produce a movement plan, and the plan produces the aligner count. Clinics price the case from that count, plus the chair time it will take to place attachments and to refine the result later.
| Variable | Why it moves the price | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Number of aligners | A longer movement plan means more trays and more monitoring | How many aligners in the plan, and over how many months? |
| Refinements | A second scan and a new batch mid-treatment may be inside the price or added later | Are refinements included, and how many? |
| Attachments and IPR | Tooth-coloured attachments and slight enamel reshaping add chair time | Will my case need attachments or IPR? |
| Retainers | Retainers after treatment are often quoted separately | Is the first set of retainers in the quote? |
| Who plans it | An orthodontic specialist and a general dentist price their time differently | Is the treatment planned by an orthodontic specialist? |
The current range partner clinics work in is on the orthodontics page, rendered as a range because the honest answer before a scan is a range. A quote given over chat without a scan is a guess, whoever gives it.
The part visitors get wrong: the calendar
Braces and aligners are the two treatments that do not finish inside a holiday. The scan, the plan and the first batch can happen in one short visit. The rest of the movement happens at home, month by month, while you change trays yourself.
- Visit one: consultation, 3D scan, X-rays, treatment plan, and usually attachments placed if the plan is approved.
- Aligners are produced and handed over in batches. Ask how many batches and how they will reach you.
- Remote check-ins by photo are common. Agree the interval and the messaging channel before you leave.
- A mid-treatment visit is normal if the teeth drift from the plan; budget for one return trip rather than being surprised by it.
- Retainers at the end. Ask who makes them if you are no longer in Korea.

Aligners or braces, for a case like yours
Aligners suit mild to moderate crowding and spacing, and adults who do not want visible brackets. Complex bite correction, significant rotation and cases that need jaw surgery still lean towards fixed appliances, and a good orthodontist will say so.
Price is not the deciding factor between the two, and treating it as one is the most common mistake we see. The comparison of both routes and the visit pattern each one needs is in how much braces cost in Korea, and the broader picture for visitors is in orthodontics in Korea for foreigners.
- Ask to see the simulated end position, not only the start and finish images.
- Ask whether the case was planned by the dentist who will treat you.
- Ask what happens to the plan if a tooth does not track. A refinement is normal, not a failure.
- If a clinic will not scan before quoting, treat the number as marketing.
What a first appointment in Seoul looks like
Expect a scan rather than a mould in most Gangnam clinics, then a wait while the plan is built, then a long conversation about the plan. That conversation is the appointment. Everything after it is logistics.
Clinics will also check the things aligners cannot fix on their own. Active gum inflammation or untreated decay is treated before movement starts, which is why a scaling and cleaning appointment often gets booked into the same trip.
If the plan is not what you expected, leave without paying. A written plan and a written quote are yours to take away and compare, and comparing two of them in one week is the single most useful thing a short trip can do. Clinic matching narrows the shortlist before you fly.
