Korean salmon DNA microneedling, nano infusion or injection: the depth is the decision

What is salmon DNA, and is it the same as PDRN?
Yes — salmon DNA, PDRN and PN all describe the same family. The raw material is purified DNA extracted from salmon or trout. PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) means shorter fragments; PN (polynucleotide) means longer chains of the same material. Korean menus write it as 「salmon DNA (연어 DNA, polynucleotide)」 and then use a brand name.
A published review of the scientific definitions sets out this distinction clearly, and a systematic review of polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine reports improvements in skin texture and elasticity while noting the trials are few and use different protocols. That is the honest evidence base, and a careful Seoul dermatologist will say the same.
Because the ingredient is shared, the brand on the menu is not the interesting part. Rejuran is the name most visitors ask for and is labelled PN in Korea. Other lines are sold as a "derma salmon skinbooster" or as an ampoule for nano infusion. Ask which one, and ask for the box.

Does salmon DNA microneedling work as well as an injection?
Usually not as well, and clinics rarely say so. A molecule sitting in a microchannel does not reach the same depth as one placed in the dermis with a needle. Reviews of intradermal skin boosters have raised precisely this point — that superficial placement may be the reason some results underwhelm.
That does not make microneedling delivery pointless. It stings far less, it costs less, and for someone who wants their skin to look calm and even before a wedding it is often the sensible choice. What it is not is a cheaper version of the same result.
In the room, the giveaway is the consent form. An injection session is consented as an injection, with bruising and bumps listed. A nano-infusion session is often consented as skin care. Which Korean salmon DNA brand should I pick?
Pick the depth and the volume first; the brand is a distant third. Once you know you want a mid-dermis session of roughly the right volume, the difference between two PN lines is smaller than the difference between 1cc and 2cc of either.
- Which product, and can I see the sealed box before it is opened?
- How many cc goes in today? Korean event prices are often quoted per 1cc, and a full face usually takes about 2cc.
- By hand or with a device, and who holds it — the doctor I just met, or a nurse?
- How long does the numbing cream stay on? Twenty to thirty minutes is normal for the injected version.
- I have a fish or seafood allergy. Say this out loud before anything is opened.
- Can you write product name, cc and depth on my receipt so my doctor at home can continue?
How many sessions, and can I do them in one trip?
Most clinics suggest a short series — often three sessions about four weeks apart — then maintenance once or twice a year. Almost no visitor stays that long, so the usual plan is one session in Seoul and the rest at home with a doctor who can source the same material.
Book it early in the trip. Bumps from an injected session flatten in one to three days, and you want to still be in Seoul if a bruise worries you. If you are also having a pigment laser, the doctor sets the order; many put the laser first and the booster last.

What does the day look like, and what does it cost me in time?
Plan about ninety minutes at the clinic for an injected session and under an hour for nano infusion. Cleansing, photographs, numbing cream, then ten to fifteen minutes of actual treatment. Patients who expected a facial are surprised by the sting; patients who expected a dental injection say it was fine.
Makeup is normally allowed the next day. Clinics usually ask you to skip saunas, alcohol and hard exercise for a few days, which matters if a jjimjilbang is on your itinerary.
