Korean jaw surgery and facial contouring, explained before you commit
Korean jaw surgery is a search term that covers two very different things. Facial contouring reshapes bone for appearance: jaw angle reduction, chin work known as V-line surgery, cheekbone reduction. Double jaw surgery moves the jaws to correct the bite, and usually needs months of orthodontics around it. The first fits a ten to fourteen day trip. The second rarely does. - Contouring (jaw angle, chin, cheekbone) fits a 10–14 day stay. Double jaw surgery usually involves orthodontics and a much longer plan.
- Planning is based on a CT scan. General anesthesia, often one night in the clinic, about five visits.
- Numbness of the lower lip and chin is the risk to ask about. It is usually temporary, sometimes not.
What she does on your clinic day
At the CT review
The surgeon shows your nerve canal and bone thickness on screen and explains how much can safely come off. She translates the limits as carefully as the promises.
Surgery day and overnight
She checks the consent form against the plan, waits through surgery, and is there when you wake with a tight bandage and a swollen mouth and cannot speak clearly.
Two weeks of recovery
She comes to each check, orders liquid and soft meals you can actually eat, and explains mouth rinsing so the stitches inside stay clean.
Stay in Korea
Day 1
CT, consultation, tests
3D CT, facial analysis, anesthesia work-up. The surgeon tells you what bone can change and what it cannot.
Day 2
Surgery
One to four hours under general anesthesia, depending on how many areas. Many clinics keep you one night for monitoring.
Day 3–5
Swelling peaks
Compression bandage, cold packs, liquid diet. Incisions are inside the mouth, so rinsing after every meal matters.
Day 7–10
Checks and stitch care
The surgeon checks the wounds, sensation and your bite. Swelling starts to come down.
Day 10–14
Final check and flight
You are cleared to fly. Most of the swelling goes in the first month. The rest takes three to six months.
Typical price in Seoul
The range is wide because one area (chin only) and three areas (jaw angle, chin and cheekbones together) are different operations. Fixation plates, the overnight stay and the anesthesiologist may be listed separately. If your square jaw is mostly muscle, masseter botox costs a fraction and needs no recovery, and a careful surgeon will say so.
