Korean acne scar treatment: a combined plan, one honest session at a time

Korean acne scar treatment rarely means a single machine. Dermatologists here tend to combine methods in one session: subcision to release scars that are tethered down, fractional laser or radiofrequency microneedling to rebuild the surface, sometimes a collagen-stimulating injection. A session takes thirty to sixty minutes with numbing cream, and you should plan two to four days in Seoul for the redness to calm. Scars improve in steps. No clinic can erase them in one visit, and we will not tell you otherwise.

  1. At scar mapping

    The doctor examines your skin under angled light and names each scar type. She translates the plan and the expected improvement in plain terms, not percentages pulled from a brochure.

  2. During treatment

    Subcision and needling are uncomfortable even with numbing. She tells the doctor how you are doing, so they can pause or add local anesthesia.

  3. Recovery days

    She sends aftercare in English and points you to a pharmacy for the regeneration cream. She also knows which cafes near the clinic will not stare at a red face.

  3. Day 3–4

    Calming

    Swelling settles and skin turns dry and rough. Most people fly now with a mask and sunscreen.

  4. Week 4–8

    Collagen builds

    The visible change arrives slowly. This is when the next session would be due.

Typical price in Seoul

The figure on this page is per session. A single device sits at the lower end. Combined sessions with subcision, fractional laser and an injectable such as Juvelook sit higher. Packages lower the per-session price, but only buy one if you know you will be back. If active breakouts are your main problem, the doctor may treat those first.

Questions patients ask us

How many sessions will I need?
Most people with moderate scarring are advised three to five sessions or more. Shallow scars respond faster than deep ice-pick scars. The doctor gives you an estimate after mapping your skin, not before.
Is it worth coming for just one session?
One session gives a partial improvement and a proper diagnosis of your scar types. If you cannot return, the plan can be continued at home. Your interpreter asks the doctor to write down the methods and settings used.
What is the downtime?
Two to five days of redness and swelling, then about a week of dry, rough skin. With subcision, bruising can last longer. Stay out of the sun and skip active skincare until the doctor says so.
I took isotretinoin. Can I still have laser?
Tell the doctor when you stopped. Many dermatologists wait some months after isotretinoin before resurfacing treatments, because healing can be affected. The doctor decides what is safe now.
What else helps acne scars?
Skin boosters such as Juvelook and Rejuran are often added for shallow scars. Dark marks without a dent are a pigment problem, covered under pigmentation laser.
